What are peptides?
Peptides are a short chain of amino acids. Chains of amino acids are what make proteins, these proteins vary in size from just a few amino acids to thousands of amino acids. Proteins are responsible for the healthy maintenance of every tissue type in our body, including bones, skin and muscles.
Peptides are naturally produced by the body and as we age, we tend to produce less (just like we do with hormones). Some of the numerous benefits of peptides include:
- improved wound healing
- improved weight loss
- increase in muscle building
- improved physical performance
- decreased recovery time with activity
- anti-aging effects
- improved skin quality
- improved cognition
- improved libido
- immunity enhancement
- increased sense of well-being
- improved sleep quality
- improved bone health
Peptides are often given as an adjunctive therapy to enhance hormone replacement therapy and/or medical weight loss but can also be used alone.
Peptides are easy to administer, they are given via a subcutaneous injection with a very small needle and can be given in the comfort of your own home.
